KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has expressed regret at the passing of Lorna Peralto (nee Tyrie), widow of former Chairman and General Secretary of the party, Ryan Peralto, who died in January 2009.
Mrs Peralto died on Tuesday January 8, 2013 at her Stony Hill, St Andrew home. She was 78 years old.
“Mrs Peralto was a remarkable human being, a humanitarian, patriot and mother, whose service to the nation is well recorded and acknowledged by the party and the Jamaican society,” Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Jamaica Labour Party, Andrew Holness said in a statement.
He said that the party “profoundly regrets her passing, but joins with the society in endorsing her contribution to the society and hope that her life will be an example to other Jamaicans.”
