KINGSTON, Jamaica - One person was arrested in an operation that saw thousands of illegal connections removed in St Andrew today, the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) said in a release.
The JPS team, accompanied by the security forces, detached almost 2,400 wires from its system in the Olympic Way and Waterhouse communities.
About 160 bridged meters or self-reconnections were also found.
Head of JPS’ security, Major George Kates, said the company is starting sustained operations of the kind across the island to reduce its losses which amounted to US$30 million ($2.79 billion) last year.
