Jamaica International Invitational: American clocks meet record to win 1500m

KINGSTON, Jamaica – American Alexa Effraemson clocked a new meet record of 4:08.37 minutes in the women's 1,500m at the 13th staging of the Jamaica International Invitational Meet
(JIIM) now under way at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Effraemson in a late burst of running circled compatriot Leah Oconnor on the backstretch on her way to lowering the previous record of 4:16.51 minutes set in 2014 by Feyne Gudeto.
Oconnor was second in 4:11.45 minutes, with another American, Dana Mecke (4:17.09), just pipping Jamaica’s Kenia Sinclair (4:17.13) for third.
