KINGSTON, Jamaica — A Jamaican national faces extradition to the Cayman Islands where he is wanted in connection with a robbery at a bank in the British overseas territory.

Police said that Ryan Edwards, 36, who has been remanded into custody until August 20, was detained in St Thomas last weekend with  cash totalling  US$5,000 and CI$35,000.

The Royal Caymanian Police said several of the currency notes found in Edwards' possession matched those stolen from the bank.

The police said they are working on the theory that Edwards left the Cayman Islands by boat.
