Jamaican gets 10 years for attempted murder
Thursday, July 26, 2012 | 1:40 PM
AN illegal immigrant from Jamaica was sentenced to 10 years in prison today for the attempted murder of a Canadian man.
Roger Renaldo Williams was 22 years old when he shot Tracey Marcoux in the head in October 2006, Canada’s CBC News reports.
Marcoux still suffers physical affects from the bullet that blasted into his brain, the report said.
The crown attorney requested that Williams serve a life sentence, however, Williams' lawyer asked for five years.
The judge said there were too many aggravating circumstances to go light on the sentence and considered the facts that Williams used an illegal firearm and burst into Marcoux's home.
He will be deported after he has served his time.
