KINGSTON, Jamaica — Scores of Jamaicans have started to gather in sections of the Corporate Area to protest the rape of five female including an eight year old girl in St James on Monday night. Some of the protestors have called for Jamaicans to start executing persons found guilty of serious crimes.

"Government needs to re-implement the death penalty," said Betty- Ann Blaine, New Nation Coalition founder.

Blaine, Opposition spokesperson on Youth, Sports, Gender Affairs, Entertainment Olivia 'Babsy' Grange and officials from Women's Inc have joined over 200 protestors now gathered in Half Way Tree.

The placard bearing  group members are all dressed in black.

"We need to send a strong message across the country," said Grange.

Other protesters have also voiced similar calls.

"We need action this going on for too long," said Carl Smith, another protestors.

The group members are planning to next march to Cross Roads.

Other protests are ongoing at the Portia Simpson Miller Square and in downtown, Kingston.
