Thursday, July 26, 2012

A joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament (Senate and House of Representatives) is scheduled for Thursday, August 2, at Gordon House in downtown Kingston.

Governor General Sir Patrick Allen will address the sitting, which will be attended by senators and members of parliament who have served since 1962.

The sitting, which will commence at 11:00 am, will culminate a series of events planned by the Parliament in celebration of Jamaica 50. The other activities include the beautification of the precincts of Gordon House, and an exhibition entitled "Fifty Years of Parliamentary Tradition" to be mounted by the library. It will highlight significant moments in the life of Parliament since Independence.
