KINGSTON, Jamaica - Three students of the Jose Marti Technical High School in St Catherine are in hospital after a car being towed ploughed into a packed bus stop Tuesday afternoon

Reports are that a truck was pulling a Mitsubishi station wagon along the Mandela Highway about 5:20 pm when the rope burst and the towed vehicle careened into a bus stop near the school.

The students, one female and two males, are conscious and speaking, a school official said, adding that two had broken legs while the other suffered leg trauma.

The official said that the incident could have been worse had another female student, who saw the approach of the vehicle, not pushed students away from the bus stop.
