LIME donates to health care

KINGSTON, Jamaica -- The LIME Foundation recently donated a Slit Lamp valued more than J$1.5 million to the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI).
According to a newspaper advertisement by the organization, “the Slit Lamp will improve the diagnosis of a number of conditions of the eye common in Jamaica, including cataracts, conjunctivitis, retinitis pigmentosa and eye damage caused by diabetes.”
In addition LIME said that the foundation provides approximately US$15 000 (J$1.6 million) annually to replace obsolete equipment, improve facilities for patient care delivery and support the hospital’s teaching capability.”
Medical students in training at the hospital as well as patients are expected to benefit from the use of the equipment.
