Labourite quarrel ends in Mandeville murder

POLICE have confirmed that a supporter of the Jamaica Labour Party was killed by another party supporter during a dispute after the party's rally in Mandeville on Sunday night.

The unidentified man was shot at a hotel in Hatfield, Manchester. He later died in hospital.

The two men were reportedly involved in a heated quarrel over an address delivered by Prime Minister Andrew Holness, when one of them drew a gun and opened fire.

The Mandeville Police have taken a man into custody and seized a licensed firearm.

THE BIG QUESTION IS WHY, HOW THE GOVERNMENT ISSUED A FIREARM TO SOMEONE WHO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH HIS EMOTION, TELL ME DID HIS BACKGROUND WERE CHECKED,JLP/PNP SHOULDN`T HAVE TO SHOOT EACHOTHER,ANDREW/AND PORTIA WONT BE INVITING THEM FOR DINNER HOW STUPID,WHEN WILL THESE PEOPLE GET CIVILIZED?WE ARE IN THE LAST DAYS REVELATION TOLD US OF THESE DAYS WE GET SO CAUGHT UP IN OURSELVES WE STOP THINKING,IT IS A DAMN SHAME.

What do you mean “us Labourite” you sound like a fraud? The report is very sketchy in my opinion, but I know that people from opposite sides can sometimes locked in harsh debates. You may define yourself as Labourite, but since I was not baptized as such or even have a vote I consider myself a fan. I must say though, that you seem to be the kind of person easily excited because you feel your opinion is all that matters, I hate to disappoint you but that is not so everyone has an opinion like it or not.

@Maud Cooper: why is it that us Labourites must blame someone else for the misdeeds within our ranks? Confirmed by all reports "two labourites had a fracas on the speech and one killed the other" - DONE! No one else was involved - wi fi teck the blame fi de stupidity.

RED ANTS and other Comrades, it is amazing how quickly you are ready to use the actions of a few to generalizing the body of a whole. It is these sorts of prejudice, stereotypes and ignorance on BOTH sides of the PNP and JLP fence that promotes an unreliable and tribalistic election and social process. Confusion in abundance! It's ironic that the tragic incident had conveniently occurred after the dignitaries had left the premises... Anyhow, condolences to the family & loved ones of the deceased... Sources have divulged that UWI alumni are numbered among some of the loyal labourites, who are forced to consult with Wikipedia each time Holness gives a speech... dem cyaan understand ah word di man seh! Perhaps the deceased had felt compelled to defuse ambiguity that lingers from Sunday's speech.

Maybe the herald or some other newspaper will print the names? And if not,you will accuse tham ,including the herald,of being biased.

Why would 2 people from the same party be fighting about a speech so heated that it led to murder? Maybe one was only wearing the green uniform but with no affiliation or it is much more than that. The murderer needs to be put away in a madhouse solitary confinement if the story is really true, for I cannot imagine what he would have done in a argument with someone from the opposing party.

How come from Sunday night we have not been able to learn the names of the participants in the matter?
Are the Police playing politics? Come now Mr. Commissioner don't be like the cow who gives the gallon of milk then kicks it over. How come the Observer cannot find out their names?
