TOM Tavares-Finson, the lead attorney for convicted entertainer Vybz Kartel, yesterday signalled his intention to appeal the guilty verdict against his client.

Speaking to the media moments after the guilty verdict was handed down, Tavares-Finson said while the defence team accepted the ruling of the jury, the case would be taken to the Court of Appeal.

"There is an appeal process on which we will embark upon. We have to accept it and move along," he said.

After 65 days of trial, the 11-member jury, after deliberating for a little over two hours, handed down guilty verdicts of 10 to one against Kartel and three of his four co-accused — Shawn 'Shawn Storm' Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St John.

"It is a benchmark case as a lot of the evidence was new. Some was new to us. It was a success of sorts. The success rested in the fact that we acted as a team," he said.
