Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller cuts the ribbon to officially open the MegaMart Wholesale Club in Mandeville, Manchester, yesterday. Sharing in the moment are (from left) President and CEO of the Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS) Jamaica Bruce Bowen; Central Manchester Member of Parliament and Minister of National Security Peter Bunting; and Chairman and CEO of MegaMart Gassan Azan. A build-own-lease deal between MegaMart and BNS was used to secure financing for the building. The store — the fourth in the MegaMart chain — has provided employment for more than 200 people, while small farmers in central Jamaica will have an opportunity to sell their produce to the store.
