Man accused of rape, buggery remanded

A man accused of raping and buggering a 10-year-old girl was last Friday remanded into custody when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
The 40-year-old vendor was taken into custody and charged with rape and buggery following allegations that he sexually assaulted the minor behind his stall in a Kingston community where he operates. He denied the charges.
When the case was mentioned, the court was told that the medical report was outstanding and the matter was rescheduled for November 1.
The accused was also assigned an attorney, Franklin Haliburton, who is expected to make a bail application on the next court date.
