A man was Wednesday convicted for murdering the mother of his child in what prosecutors said was a case of jealousy.
The convict, 29-year-old Andre Williams of Bull Bay in St Andrew, faces the possibility of life imprisonment when his sentencing comes up in the Home Circuit Court on November 8.
Jurors deliberated for some two hours before returning with the guilty verdict, capping a two-week trial presided over by Justice Martin Gayle.
Evidence was led during the trial that Williams shot and killed Trishauna Sewell at her family home in Seven Miles, Bull Bay on the night of March 3, 2009 after she ended their relationship.
Evidence was given that Williams, who barged into the home while Sewell was preparing for bed, also shot two of Sewell's family members.
A witness testified that Williams told Sewell, before shooting her, "Mi neva tell you me ago done you?"
Williams said in an unsworn statement from the prisoners' dock that he was innocent of the charge as he was out of the area at the time of the incident.
By giving an unsworn statement, which is part of his right as an accused person, Williams avoided being cross-examined by the prosecution.
