ABOUT one week before her death on April 24, 1967, Joyce McNair of Belfield in St Mary had brought her relationship with Glasford Phillips to an end, following which he threatened her menacingly with violence.
But by making that decision, the 23-year-old household helper had literally signed her own death warrant.
On that fateful day Phillips, in what the prosecution said could only be described as "a pent-up fit of jealous rage", grabbed a machete from a bag his mother was carrying and rained several hard chops on the body of his former mistress. She died on the spot.
Prior to the attack, McNair and Phillips' mother had been in an altercation, the prosecution further....
