A man who was found in possession of two endangered Yellow-billed parrots was on Tuesday sentenced to 200 hours of community service when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

Uriel Williams, who was found with the parrots at his home in Kingston, had earlier pleaded guilty to possession of the endangered birds.

Tuesday when he appeared in court for sentencing he maintained that the birds were given to him by a friend in St Thomas.

The sentence was handed down by Resident Magistrate Georgianna Fraser.
