Man hospitalised, two suspects held after Mandeville shooting
Thursday, September 20, 2012
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — The Manchester police say a man has been hospitalised with gunshot wounds, two suspects are now in custody and two firearms seized following a shooting incident which sent shoppers and retailers scurrying for cover at the Manchester Shopping Centre in Mandeville yesterday.
According to the police, the motorist, who had just returned from a financial institution, was sitting in this car at about 3:30 pm outside at the shopping centre when he was approached by two men who demanded that he open the door. The motorist reportedly refused and shots were fired at his car, hitting him. He attempted to drive away but reportedly crashed into an embankment. He was rushed to hospital and was said to be in stable condition last night.
Police were quick on the scene and the two men were held with two 9mm Browning pistols and several rounds of ammunition. A search was on last night for others in connection with the incident. (Photo: Gregory Bennett)
