Thursday, August 23, 2012
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — A man is dead and his cousin has been taken into custody after a quarrel over money ended in a stabbing, police said.
The dead man has been identified as Karl Atkinson, 56, of Content District, close to Balaclava in North East St Elizabeth. His cousin, Delroy Atkinson, also 56, of the same community has been taken into custody and is likely to be charged with murder, police said.
The police reported that the two men were having drinks about 10.30 Tuesday night when a disagreement developed regarding money. A knife was used to stab Karl Atkinson in the chest. He was rushed to hospital where he died while being treated.
Delroy Atkinson was detained by the police.
