BRAZEN gunmen yesterday shot and killed a man at the altar of a church in Bull Bay, St Andrew, injuring one child and traumatising many others in the process.
The incident occurred around midday at the Church of God of Prophesy in Bull Bay where the man, who has been identified as Chad Telfer, sought refuge from his attackers.
But the killers showed no mercy, despite the presence of screaming children who were attending Vocational Bible School at the sanctuary.
The injured girl, who was shot in the left side, has been hospitalised.
According to Reverend Conrad Atkinson, who was speaking on RJR's Beyond the Headlines programme yesterday, blood and marrow from the dead man splattered on the children and other members of the church.
"It was very traumatic," Atkinson said. "Some of the children were crying; some were calling for their mothers and saying that they wanted to go home, while others were stunned and didn't know what to do."
