Man shot dead in Westmoreland

SAVANNA-LA-MAR, Westmoreland — A man was shot and killed by a gunman on Hudson Street, Russia in Savanna-La-Mar this morning.
The dead man has been identified as 44-year-old Paul Cooper otherwise called 'Eugene' of Russia community in the parish.
The Savanna-la-Mar Police report that about 4:30 am Cooper was on his way home when a gunman opened fire, hitting him all over his body.
Cooper managed to escape further attacks and used his cellular phone to alert the Police. He was taken to hospital where he died while being treated.
The Police are now actively pursuing a man who is believed to have committed the offence.
