Manchester Cabbie on rape charge remanded
Mandeville, Manchester- Forty-nine year old Durrant Levy, the taxi operator charged for the rape of a 12 year old girl in the parish was remanded when he appeared in the Mandeville Residents Magistrate court today.
He will return to court on October 24.
Levy’s attorney Norman Godfrey made an application for the bail of his client.
He told residents magistrate Desiree Alleyne that his client has lived in the parish for four decades, has a fixed place of abode and is not a flight risk.
Godfrey said that being allowed bail would not affect any further investigation from being done.
However, the bail application was denied as the court is still awaiting the medical report of the child.
The court was told by the prosecution that the report should be ready by next week.
Levy who is of a Greenvale address was arrested on October 5 for allegedly molesting the girl said to be his goddaughter.
Levy was pointed out during an identification parade.
