LONDON (AP) — A portrait of "Pride and Prejudice" author Jane Austen that is soon to adorn British banknotes has sold for 164,500 pounds (US$270,230) at a London auction.

MAY PEN, Clarendon -- A homemade firearm was seized and a stolen lap top recovered after a fleeing robber was stopped in his tracks by residents in May Pen, Clarendon Wednesday night.
The May Pen Police say that about 9:30 pm a 16-year-old boy, while sitting on the roadway in his community, was held up and robbed of his laptop by a man who then fled the scene. Residents saw what transpired, gave chase, and collared the thief.
The police were summoned and the accused robber handed over to them unharmed.
The man, whose name is being withheld, is currently in police custody.
