PHOTO: Mayor's Award

Tuesday, October 16, 2012

Shantall Hamilton, an 18-year-old resident of Braeton in Portmore, St Catherine, collects the Mayor's Award from Mayor of Portmore George Lee at a civic ceremony held at the Portmore Pines Plaza, yesterday. Hamilton, who was rewarded for her exemplary academic achievements, got eight subjects in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate examination — seven at grade one and the other a two. A former student of Braeton Primary and Junior High, she is now a student of the University of the West Indies. "Since my achievements a lot of the youth in my community are looking up to me as a role model and my word of encouragement to them is 'hard work everything is possible'," said Hamilton.
