THREE people were shot, two fatally, in the West Kingston Police Division between Wednesday and yesterday as the violence continued between rival gangs in the area.

The dead have been identified as Christopher Barrett and Patrick Shaw, whom the police said were gunned down in separate attacks in the communities of Hannah Town and Jones Town.

In the first incident, at approximately 11:00 am Wednesday, Barrett was chased and shot several times by gunmen as he walked in Hannah Town. Police, who were called to the area, found his bullet-riddled body.

Meanwhile, as investigators started their probe of Barrett's killing, they were called to Jones Town where Shaw was chased and murdered in similar fashion. Another man who was in the vicinity was shot and injured. He has since been admitted to hospital in serious condition, the Jamaica Observer has learnt.

Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Owen Ellington toured the division yesterday and assured residents that the police have the situation under control.

He also called on residents to do more to help the authorities repel criminals who were responsible for the crimes.
