KNGSTON, Jamaica - A man has been shot and injured during a robbery in a community known as 'Bell Rock' in St Andrew this morning.

The man was reportedly travelling through the community with two children in his vehicle when upon reaching a rough patch in the road he was approached by two men who demanded money before shooting him in the upper body.

The robbers then relieved him of a quantity of cash.

The injured man, who is a licensed firearm holder, exited his vehicle and fired on his attackers. It is uncertain whether any of the robbers were hit.

He was then taken to hospital.

The two screaming children were whisked away by police who were quick on the scene.
