Motorist shot and injured, cop hurt

HOPEWELL, Hanover — A bizarre incident in which a taxi operator was shot and injured by a policeman in now under investigations by the police as well as the Independent Commission of Investigations.

The incident, which happened in this rural town, also saw the injury of the policeman, who reportedly received blows to the face.

The constabulary's Corporate Communications Unit said the incident took place after the policeman stopped the motorist for a traffic violation.

The incident, which was captured in part on video, saw the policeman and the motorist fighting on the ground before explosions were heard.
