Tuesday, October 09, 2012
A Kingston man who allegedly murdered his uncle with a machete during a dispute was last Thursday denied bail when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
The accused, Roland Scullery, 22, of Tobias Road, Kingston 11, is charged with the July 11 murder of Ernesto Scullery, aged 44.
According to a police report, on the day of the incident both men got into an argument which got intense. During the heated argument, Scullery allegedly used a machete to chop his uncle on his left hand before using the same weapon to stab the man in his chest.
The injured man was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead, while the accused reportedly fled the scene but later turned himself over to police on September 17.
When the accused appeared in court, his matter was rescheduled for mention on October 18 by Resident Magistrate Lorna Shelly Williams, who remanded him into custody.
