Nelson wants OCG to investigate funeral home contracts
Tuesday, November 23, 2010
MINISTER of National Security Senator Dwight Nelson has written to Contractor General Greg Christie, inviting his office to launch an investigation into the contractual arrangements recently made between the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) and funeral homes/morgues for the storage of bodies and post mortems.
Nelson said his request comes in the wake of complaints regarding the operations of the funeral homes.
On November 1, the JCF issued new guidelines regarding funeral homes, which were contracted to store bodies and accommodate post mortem examinations.
Under the new guidelines, nine funeral homes have been contracted to provide services islandwide.
