NZ scientist accused of fabricating link with Cool Runnings team
Jamaica Observer
Thursday, September 09, 2010
THE UK Telegraph is reporting today that a New Zealand military scientist who claimed to have been an Olympic sledder who raced against the Jamaican Cool Runnings bobsledding team, lied on his resume.
The scientist, who was also accused of lying about other employment, has resigned.
The man, British born Stephen Wilce, also said that he had combat experience with Britain's Royal Marines, The Telegraph reported.
Wilce had claimed to be a member of the British bobsledding team at the 1988 Olympics that competed against Jamaica.
The Jamaican team’s exploits were the subject of the hugely popular Cool Runnings movie, which chronicled how the team, from tropical Jamaica, competed in the winter games.
