Monday, February 15, 2010
Jamaica's Nigel Coke (left), communication director for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in West Indies Union (WIU), receiving a special award as top performer among counterparts in the 19 unions making up the Inter-American Division (IAD) of the SDA Church. Making the presentation recently is the communication director of the IAD, Pastor Leon Wellington, at the Division's headquarters in Miami, Florida. It came at the end of an annual training workshop for all communication directors in the division which comprises Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia and all the islands of the Caribbean.
Wellington said Coke was recognised for outstanding work which entailed sending news on a timely basis, promoting the use of the Internet in all churches and facilitating the broadcast of the Adventist channel Hope TV on local cable network giant Flow. "He has displayed good quality journalism and all-round excellence as a communication director in the IAD. He is a go-getter who is always determined to get the news out, whether to the division's headquarters or the local news media," said Wellington.
