KINGSTON, Jamaica — THE four men charged with the murder of Roderick 'Bunny' Francis, a high-profile player in the local fishing industry, are to be tried on November 26.

The date was set this afternoon in the Home Circuit Court following failed bail applications on the accused men's behalf.

The men are 42-year-old Carlos Batista of Allerdyce Drive, Kingston 8; 27-year-old George Gardner; Sheldon Watson, 36; and Yuton Welsh, who are all of Kingston addresses.

Sixty-six-year-old Francis was shot dead by gunmen, pretending to have car trouble, outside his Queensway home in St Andrew on July 2011.

Francis' death is believed to be a contract killing.

Last February, a businessman was taken into custody and questioned in relation to the murder but he was released without charge.

The attorneys appearing in the matter are Vincent Wellesley, Latoya Errar, Peter Champagnie, Romona Nelson, Diane Jobson and Michael Deans.
