NURSES today ended their industrial action and promised to restore normality to the island's health sector. Nurses Association of Jamaica president, Edith Allwood-Anderson conceded ground after talks with Minister of Labour and Social Security Pearnel Charles.

At a press conference today health Minister Rudyard Spencer said the industrial action was crippling the health sector. He said only emergency cases were being dealt with at hospitals and non-critical patients were discharged from health care facilities.

The nurses have been clamouring for a better wage package which the government agreed to under a memorandum of understanding.

The nurses and the government will engage in further talks tomorrow the Ministry of Labour and Social Security's offices at North Street in Kingston.
