Nurses's sickout forces Gov't emergency

THE Ministry of Labour and Social Security has called an emergency meeting today at 1:00 pm at its North Street, Kingston offices to meet with members of the Nurses’ Association of Jamaica (NAJ).

This meeting was called in response to reports that registered nurses have been reporting sick in regional hospitals, said a statement from the ministry today.

The meeting will be chaired by Minister of Labour Pearnel Charles. Attending will be representatives from the ministries of health, finance and the University Hospital of the West Indies.

The Ministry of Labour said that it was is prepared to work with all parties involved to arrive at an amicable settlement and restore normality to the health sector.
