OCG reports 100% compliance from Gov't

By CONRAD HAMILTON Observer senior reporter

Wednesday, August 03, 2011

THE Office of the Contractor General (OCG) is reporting that all public bodies have complied with the requirement to file Quarterly Contract Award reports on contracts awarded in the quarter ending in July.

In a release to the media today, the OCG said that all 194 Public Bodies, whose contract award activities are monitored by that office, were declared fully compliant in filing their 2011, 2nd Quarter Quarterly Contract Award reports, to the OCG, by the stipulated deadline.

All public bodies are required by law to file QCA reports with the OCG within one month of the ending of each calendar year quarter. The OCG's office says this is the tenth consecutive quarter that all public bodies have met the deadline.

The emphasis on compliance followed years of delinquency on the part of Public Bodies, many of which failed to file their reports on time.

However, in 2006, Contractor General Greg Christie threatened strong action against the directors of these entities, a move which resulted in the figures moving from 13 per cent compliance in 2006 to the current 100 per cent compliance rate.
