POLICE from the East Kingston division are keeping a close watch on the Southside community in Parade Gardens where the fatal shooting of a man believed to be an influential person has stirred tensions .

"The man was believed to be an influential person in the community," said head of the division Arthur Brown, who did not give details about how the man was killed, but said it took place over a month ago.

"A curfew has been imposed in a section of the division but close attention is being placed on that area as police suspect there could be a possible reprisal," said another officer in the area.
