Shane Kelly (left), executive assistant to Colin Carrie, the Member of Parliament for Oshawa in the province of Ontario, and Jamaican Foreign Minister A J Nicholson do a version of the 'Bolt To The World' during Jamaica 50 celebrations organised by the Canadian Club of Oshawa on August 12. Jamaicans across Canada turned out in their numbers to take part in the series of celebratory events. Nicholson was guest speaker at the 'Jamaica Land We Love' Gala on August 11, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, where he praised the success of Jamaicans in Canada, noting: "It is no accident that a Jamaican is one of four blacks ever to be appointed to the Senate of Canada; that on several occasions we have had ministers in the provincial government of Ontario; we have had a lieutenant governor in this province, chancellors of universities and a deputy chief of police, and Jamaicans occupy positions in the upper reaches of the judiciary."
