Mission Director of USAID Jamaica Denise Herbol and the students who participated in the USAID-funded project Camp Summer Plus 2012 recreate the signature pose of Jamaican sprinter and Olympic Gold Medallist Usain Bolt at Inswood High School in St Catherine last Thursday. Herbol spent the day interacting with students, teachers and parents and took the time to observe the various teaching methods that have been implemented for the camp. Camp Summer Plus, now in its second year, began on July 9 and ended last Friday, August 10, 2012. Its two main aims are to provide focused, intensive, data-driven academic programmes through technology and the arts in the critical areas of reading and mathematics; and to provide nutritional, psychological, social and other support which are known to impact student performance.
