Health Minister Fenton Ferguson (second right) was on hand to welcome the first baby born at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston on August 6 — the 50th anniversary of the nation’s Independence. The little one entered the world at approximately 12:46 am. Here, Sister Nadine Anderson holds the baby, while the child’s mother, Asoka Wilson, accepts a gift from Ambassador Marjorie Taylor. Also sharing in the occasion are Matron Valerie Taylor and the hospital’s CEO Godfrey Boyd. (Photo: William Foster)
