KINGSTON, Jamaica -- Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller and Minister of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining Phillip Paulwell on Wednesday met with the Chairman of the Digicel Group, Denis O’Brien, at the Office of the Prime Minister.

The trio discussed issues related to the telecommunications sector and plans by the Government for further improvement. During the discussions, Simpson Miller noted that though the country’s telecommunications network can compare favourably with those in most first world countries, “this will only motivate the government to improve its capacity,” a news release Thursday from the OPM said.

Simpson Miller also commended the O'Brien on the work Digicel has been doing in Jamaica in areas of community development and education.
