KINGSTON, Jamaica — MINISTER of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining, Phillip Paulwell this morning said that government is seeking alliances with energy-rich countries to produce aluminium.

According to Paulwell his ministry is taking a new approach where they will look at increasing the value of the goods and services that are produced here.

He said they are focused on how to build more value in Jamaica, such as a widening of the mining sector.

“With that in mind we are looking at the full range of mining opportunities and also within the bauxite/alumina industry to see how we can to move to that prospect we have been talking about for years, … Jamaica combining with energy rich countries to get to producing aluminium. That I believe is a dream that is within our grasp,” he said.
