Police crack illegal appliance racket

TELEVISION sets and other appliances valued at millions of dollars were seized by police during an operation on Molynes Road in Kingston last night.
Police report that they swooped down on a premises at 115 Molynes Road where two containers loaded with the illegal items were seized.
Several persons were also apprehended in the operation that took place close to midnight.
"Police in an intelligence led operation raided the premises and were able to arrest several persons," one officer on the scene said.
Cops also that based on the number of items seized they were convinced that they had cracked a multi-million dollar appliance racket.
"We believe the location was used as a area where criminals would bring several appliances smuggled from off the wharves for storage," another police officer said.
The cop also said there could be more arrests in connection with the seizure in the near future.
Last night as the police carried out their search, dozens of curious onlookers gathered to catch a glimpse.
