OCHO RIOS, St Ann — Delegates of the Jamaica Police Federation, which represents rank and file members of the constabulary force, have declared that the fight with Government over the outstanding seven per cent wage increase is far from over.
The delegates are now meeting at Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort in Ocho Rios for the Police Federation’s 67th annual joint central conference where members are in a militant mood over the outstanding money.
General Secretary Sergeant Jacqueline Brown, said delegates will not relent until they get Government to pay the police.
She said the issue has been a vexed one among members for several months and that it needs to be addressed with urgency.
Brown told delegates during the opening session of the conference this morning, that the federation intents to send a strong message to the Government from the conference, that the battle is far from over.
“We want to make it clear that this battle is far from over. You won’t know what hit you, but you will feel it when it hits you,” Brown said.
She said the central executive of the federation and its members are convinced that Government is not giving the plight of its members the attention it deserves.
The two-day conference is being held under the theme “Balancing the scale through a transformation process”.
