POLICE yesterday arrested three suspects in connection with Tuesday's brazen robbery of the Bijoux jewellery store on Knutsford Boulevard in New Kingston.
Superintendent Derrick 'Cowboy' Knight, head of the St Andrew Central Division, said the men were picked up during an early morning operation in August Town, also in the parish.
"Three (men) are now in custody, and we also recovered a small quantity of jewellery as well," said Knight, adding that the police were still investigating the heist.
Knight said the men are to be questioned, and placed on identification parades.
According to police reports, a group of about four men entered the jewellery store shortly after 10:00 am under the guise of customers.
They then brandished their weapons, and ordered customers and staff into a small room, before robbing them of their cellphones, jewellery, and other valuables.
The bandits then opened the showcases and stole several watches and other items, before fleeing in a waiting motorcar.
None of the customers or staff were harmed in the robbery, however.
Up to late yesterday investigators were still examining footage taken from closed-circuit cameras inside the store.
According to Knight, however, "the tapes are not clear, there are some technical problems so we will have to carry out further investigations".
Knight said that no estimate as to the value of the items stolen have been ascertained up until yesterday.
