KINGSTON, Jamaica -- Police on Thursday launched an operation to clamp down on criminals operating in sections of downtown, Kingston close to the Coronation Market.

Head of Kingston Western Police Division Senior Superintendent Steve McGregor said that the initiative was aimed at bringing back order to the market district.

"Over the next few days authorities will be intensifying the pressure on criminals operating in downtown especially the market district as we continue to get complains from vendors in the markets," said McGregor.
