Port Royal Primary's Debayo Ellis creates history

Friday, July 15, 2011

Debayo Ellis (3rd left), the highest achiever at Port Royal Primary School in this year's GSAT exam, is presented with a scholarship cheque from the Port Royal Seafood Festival and JF Mills valued at $60,000 by Paula Blake (2nd right), sales manager, JF Mills, on June 30. Debayo, who got an overall score of 93 per cent, with a 98 per cent in Science, made history as the first GSAT student from Port Royal Primary who will be attending Wolmer's Boys School. Sharing the occasion are Phillip Paulwell (left), member of Parliament for Kingston East and Port Royal; Rochelle Dorma, Debayo's mom; Radio presenter and Port Royal Seafood Festival organiser Jennifer 'Jenny Jenny' Small; and Owen Speid, principal, Port Royal Primary.

Congrats Debayo good job! Now Mr. Speid what about the first GSAT child to pass for schools like XLCR, Camperdown, St. Hugh's etc why weren't they celebrated too? You wrote a letter to the other paper the other day about not making kids feel left out if they weren't ready for exams, but I tell you if I were a child and I knew I worked hard and passed for one of these other schools and you didnt big me up the way you are doing now I would feel bad. Like what I did wasn't good enough!

Once again the "missing" dad.
We do not know why but we have seen so many of these high achievers and no mention of any dads.
