KINGSTON, Jamaica - The Kingston man who reportedly stabbed his mother to death while she was asleep was on Friday remanded into custody for psychiatric evaluation.

Twenty-nine-year-old Keno Johnson of Hope Village was remanded into custody by Magistrate Georgianna Fraser when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on a murder charge.

The accused is charged for the gruesome killing of former higgler 78-year-old Veronica Wizzard, in September.

According to the police, the accused and his mother had an argument and later, while she was asleep, Johnson allegedly attacked her.

Johnson, it is alleged, threw a knife in his mother's back and cut her several times over her body before using the knife to stab her in the left eye.
