RADA office in Trelawny now at Hague
ST JAMES, Jamaica (JIS) – The parish office of the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA), in Trelawny, is now located at Hague, near Falmouth.
The facility, which was built at a cost of $80 million, was officially opened on Thursday by Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Derrick Kellier.
Also to be housed in the complex are branches of the Jamaica 4-H Clubs and Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS), and the National Land Agency (NLA) in Trelawny.
In his address, Kellier said the new offices of the agencies are expected to provide improved services to farmers and members of the Trelawny public.
He argued that the farmers in Trelawny deserve better service and that the RADA members of staff need to operate from a safer and comfortable environment.
The minister is also encouraging RADA to ensure that farmers benefit from the upgraded facilities and that the resources are used in an efficient manner.
“I also encourage you to use the additional resources provided to propel you to achieve greater levels of production and productivity,” he told the farmers.
The minister said he is hoping that Trelawny’s domestic crop production will rebound and that the parish will move up from its present number three position.
