Roger Clarke to undergo back surgery in the US

KINGSTON Jamaica -- Agriculture Minister, Roger Clarke will leave the island on the week-end for the United States of America where he will undergo surgery and medical treatment for a back condition.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister Clarke has assured that based on the best advice of his doctors and the nature of the operation to be performed, he is expected to make a full and timely recovery.

In the meantime, Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller has assigned Labour and Social Security Minister Derrick Kellier to assume the duties of the Agriculture Minister.

The OPM said that while overseas on medical leave, Clarke will maintain on-going contact with Minister Kellier “in order to ensure that there is full continuity of focus on the priorities of the agriculture ministry”.
