Friday, October 19, 2012 | 12:06 PM

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The driver of a Toyota Coaster bus which plowed into a bus stop on Half-Way-Tree Road, killed a teenage girl and injured three other people almost a month ago, is still on the run.

The man, who was not assigned to drive the public passenger vehicle, has been identified by police only as 'Dog'.

Head of the Traffic Department Superintendent Radcliffe Lewis, said that despite a sustained effort by the police, the rogue driver has not yet been apprehended.

"We have been trying to arrest him but he is still on the run. We are making every effort to bring him to justice," Lewis told the Jamaica Observer.

'Dog' was reportedly given the steering wheel by the assigned driver and ended up ramming into the unsuspecting pedestrians.

The teenager, Melissa Thompson died on the spot from the impact. The promising student was sent off in an emotional ceremony at the Heritage Independence Baptist Church in St Catherine last Saturday.
