KINGSTON, Jamaica — Usain Bolt may be the world’s fastest athlete but it’s footballer Christiano Ronaldo who leads the way as most “liked”, reaching the 50 million mark on Facebook before any other sportsman.

Ronaldo currently has 50.1 million fans on the popular networking site, just outside the top five, which is led by Rihanna (61.8 million), Eminem (61.5 million), Shakira (55 million, Lady Gaga (53.3 million) and Michael Jackson (52 million).

The Real Madrid star posted a message for his millions of admirers after reaching the milestone, “Reaching 50 million likes is unbelievable ...I want to thank you, you, you, you and everyone who have been supporting me all these years. I really want us to keep sharing all the good moments together — and the best is still to come. Thank you all.”

Bolt is ranked 12th on the athlete’s list with 9.4 million fans. However, he’s still a long way off from the most popular Jamaican, Bob Marley, who has 40.4 million fans on the site.
